Joe Minicozzi, principal of Urban3, will be presenting "The Economics of Community Design," part 2, at an interactive public engagement session hosted by the City of Springfield on Thursday, Feb. 29. This event is a part of the City's Comprehensive Plan, Forward SGF, and is the fifth installment of the Forward SGF speaker series.

Minicozzi, known for explaining market dynamics created by tax and land use policies, will delve deeper into the fiscal costs and impact of development codes and community design decisions during his presentation. According to Randall Whitman, principal planner for the City of Springfield, the presentation will highlight the results of Urban3's analysis of the City's public and private investment returns.

Whitman stated, "The presentation will tell the story of cost and revenue from the types of development Springfield has, and may want to support in the years to come. The presentation will help illustrate and further the community discussion on the value of implementing over 200 recommendations from Forward SGF related to community design and developing a collective understanding of how land use and zoning affect a city’s economic health."

Urban3 is collaborating with urban planning firm Multistudio, responsible for developing new city codes for Springfield. The event aims to provide insights into the economic implications of various development decisions and the importance of effective community design.

Joe Minicozzi's expertise in urban planning and economics, combined with the partnership between Urban3 and Multistudio, is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing dialogue surrounding community development and economic prosperity in Springfield.
