Rep. Eric Burlison, U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district, posted a series of statements on his official X account on November 3 and 4, 2025, addressing health insurance policy and government spending.
On November 3, Burlison questioned the current approach to health insurance in the United States. He wrote, "What if you could shop for health insurance the same way you shop for a car or a phone plan? Real choice. Real freedom."
Later that day, he criticized Democratic lawmakers during ongoing government funding negotiations. In his post from November 3, he stated, "Democrats are willing to keep the government closed just to prove to their radical base that they can 'resist' President Trump — all for $1.5 trillion in new spending."
The following day, Burlison addressed former President Barack Obama’s healthcare promises. On November 4 he posted, "Obama promised to lower premiums by $2,500 a year per family. Why would taxpayers foot the bill for his failed policies? If it were truly affordable, why the bailout? @chrisjacobsHC raises a very valid point."
Burlison has represented Missouri’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Billy Long in 2023 and previously served in both chambers of the Missouri legislature from 2009 through early 2023. Born in Springfield in 1976 and currently residing in Ozark, Burlison holds degrees from Missouri State University.
