Rep. Eric Burlison criticizes Democrats over budget negotiations and SNAP spending

Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, published several posts on October 31, 2025, criticizing Democratic actions related to the federal budget and government funding negotiations.

In a post from October 31, Burlison stated: "Democrats passed this budget 13 times, but now they’re blocking it to create pain and demand more taxpayer dollars. Negotiation is impossible when they continue to reject the very plan they wrote.

Burlison also addressed concerns about government spending on social programs in another post: "Taxpayers have every right to be frustrated when their hard-earned money goes toward non-essential purchases like sugary drinks and junk food they wouldn’t afford.

Eric Burlison has held his congressional seat since replacing Billy Long in 2023. Prior to his current role, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 and in the Missouri Senate from 2019 to 2023. Burlison was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and resides in Ozark. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Missouri State University by 2002.
