Citizens Memorial Hospital has recognized Courtney Boland, RN, MSN, with the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Boland is the director of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and Telemetry department.

She was nominated by a colleague who cited her leadership qualities, compassion, and commitment to both staff and patients. The nomination highlighted Boland’s readiness to assist in various situations, including working directly with patients, supporting families, and helping staff after challenging shifts. It also noted her calmness under pressure and effective communication skills.

The nomination stated: “Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and your staff. You are a true angel and the true definition of a DAISY nurse.”

The DAISY Nurse Leader Award is part of an international program that recognizes exceptional nurses. Citizens Memorial Hospital began participating in the DAISY Award program in January 2019 and introduced the Nurse Leader category in April 2023. Each year, three nurse leaders are selected for this recognition.
