Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, posted a series of statements on September 29, 2025, raising concerns about the FBI’s involvement in the January 6 events, Democratic reactions to former President Trump’s legal troubles, and public sentiment regarding a potential government shutdown.
In his first post at 15:57 UTC, Burlison stated: "A new report reveals the FBI had over 270 plainclothes agents embedded in the J6 crowd. This directly contradicts Christopher Wray’s claims about January 6. The lies just keep stacking up."
An hour later, at 17:00 UTC, he commented on partisan responses to legal proceedings involving Donald Trump and broader issues of accountability: "Democrats cheered at the prospect of Trump being thrown in jail for life, and now have the gall to defend an attempted coup against the United States. Step outside the echo chamber once in a while, James Comey is not above the law."
At 18:10 UTC, Burlison addressed survey findings related to responsibility for a possible government shutdown: "A recent survey found that 38% of likely voters say Democrats would be most to blame if a shutdown occurs, compared to only 29% who would blame Republicans. Shutdowns aren’t ideal, but neither is handing Democrats a $1.4 trillion blank check for their radical nonsense."
Burlison has represented Missouri's 7th District since succeeding Billy Long in Congress in 2023. Before his current role, he served in both chambers of Missouri's state legislature—first as a member of the House from 2009 to 2017 and then as a senator from 2019 until joining Congress.
He was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and resides in Ozark.
Burlison holds two degrees from Missouri State University.
