Missouri State University's Ella Becker has been named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday. This recognition marks the first time a Missouri State women's soccer player has received a CUSA weekly honor since joining the conference earlier this fall.
Becker played a key role in securing a 0-0 draw for the Bears during their away match against Liberty on September 19. She made six saves and completed all 90 minutes in goal, helping Missouri State earn its first point in Conference USA competition.
During the match, Liberty took 13 shots with six on target. Becker stopped several scoring attempts throughout both halves, resulting in her third shutout of the season.
The Bears, holding a record of 3-5-2 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play, are scheduled to play Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Thursday at 6 p.m.
"Ella Becker anchored the Bears to a 0-0 road draw at Liberty on Sept. 19, recording six saves and playing the full 90 minutes in goal," stated the league office. "Her shutout performance preserved Missouri State's first-ever point in Conference USA play."
