The Missouri State University women's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first day of play at the Johnie Imes Invitational, held at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri. After two rounds on Monday, Missouri State posted a total score of 596, with an opening round of 302 followed by a 294 in the afternoon. This result puts them level with Cincinnati in the standings.
Freshman Chloe Bolte led Missouri State, shooting rounds of 73 and 72 for a total of 145, which places her tied for eighth individually after day one. Senior Kiser Pannier is tied for 24th with scores of 73 and 76 (149), just ahead of teammate Tierney Baumstark, who shot 78 and 72 (150). Junior Kyleigh Pfitzner recorded rounds of 78 and 74 (152) to sit tied for 39th, while junior Coyee Zhang is tied for 56th after carding identical rounds of 78 (156). Sophomore Marlee Edgeman competed as an individual and finished with scores of 88 and 81 (169).
Host school Missouri leads the team competition with a score of 562, nine strokes ahead of Kentucky. Wichita State occupies third place at 589. The Bears and Bearcats complete the top five out of fourteen teams participating.
The final round will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
