Rep. Eric Burlison, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing recent actions by Democratic members in Congress and reiterating his stance on fiscal responsibility.
On September 19, 2025, Burlison expressed disapproval over a recent vote tally in Congress, stating: "58 voted NO. 38 voted PRESENT. 96 Democrats. Disgraceful." He followed up minutes later with another post about negotiations over government spending: "Compromising with Democrats means erasing the spending cuts Republicans fought tooth and nail to secure. That’s ABSURD."
Later that day, Burlison emphasized his long-standing advocacy for budgetary restraint: "I fought for a Balanced Budget Amendment long before Congress. Fiscal hawks are pushing moderates to finally cut spending. The momentum is shifting and the American people are watching."
Burlison has represented Missouri's 7th district in the U.S. House since replacing Billy Long in 2023. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 and served in the Missouri Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976, Burlison currently resides in Ozark and is an alumnus of Missouri State University.
