Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, posted a series of statements on August 27, 2025, addressing immigration policy, government transparency, and fiscal responsibility.
In a post at 14:27 UTC, Burlison wrote, "The days of providing handouts to illegal aliens are over. America First." Later that day at 15:46 UTC, he commented on government accountability: "Americans have been promised transparency and accountability across generations. They almost never get it. Such entrenched power calls into question who truly holds the keys to power in Washington."
At 20:21 UTC, Burlison referenced state-level fiscal practices in Missouri compared to federal spending in Washington: "In Missouri, the state can’t spend beyond its means without a vote of the people. But in DC, the government can spend cash it doesn’t have and drive up the debt. That’s why I introduced H.J. Res. 112, a Constitutional amendment to restore fiscal responsibility."
Burlison succeeded Billy Long as representative for Missouri's 7th district in 2023 and has previously served in both chambers of the Missouri legislature from 2009 through early 2023. He was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and resides in Ozark. Burlison is an alumnus of Missouri State University with degrees earned in both 2000 and 2002.
