U.S. Representative Eric Burlison, who represents Missouri’s 7th district, used his social media platform this week to address concerns about government accountability in the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein and to call for congressional oversight.
On August 5, 2025, Burlison stated: "If you held power while Epstein was trafficking minors and you did nothing, you’ll answer for it—under oath. The victims deserve answers. The American people do too. @GOPoversight @BlakeBurman"
The following day, August 6, he reiterated Congress’s duty in a subsequent post: "Congress has a constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight. The expectation is that the DOJ will provide the records we've lawfully requested."
Later on August 6, Burlison emphasized the nonpartisan nature of these concerns: "This isn’t about politics. It’s about whether our government failed to protect the vulnerable and whether anyone in power helped bury the truth."
Burlison, who took office in Congress in 2023 after previously serving in both chambers of Missouri's state legislature, has positioned himself as an advocate for transparency and accountability within federal investigations. He was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and currently resides in Ozark. Burlison earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Missouri State University.
His recent statements reflect ongoing public interest regarding how institutions handled allegations against Jeffrey Epstein and broader questions of governmental responsibility and transparency.
