Citizens Memorial Hospital has announced the addition of Dr. Gary R. Highfill, an otolaryngologist, to its medical staff. Dr. Highfill is a native of southwest Missouri and graduated from Fair Grove High School. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia and completed both a general surgery internship and an otolaryngology residency at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He holds board certification in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Highfill brings over 24 years of experience in practicing otolaryngology, having worked in Springfield, Missouri, and Fort Smith, Arkansas. His practice covers ear, nose, and throat conditions for both adults and children, with specialties including sinus issues, sleep apnea, nasal obstruction, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, head and neck cancer biopsies, environmental and food allergies, hearing testing and treatment, as well as tube placement.
Starting January 27th, 2025, Dr. Highfill will begin seeing patients at the CMH ENT & Allergy Clinic located within the Kerry and Synda Douglas Medical Center in Bolivar. He will work alongside nurse practitioner Ashley Carpenter.
