Fifty-eight teams participated in the 35th annual Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation Medical Excellence Golf Classic, presented by SGC Foodservice. The event took place on June 5 at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.

The tournament is an 18-hole, four-person scramble designed to raise funds for CMH’s Medical Excellence Scholarship program. This program provides financial support to individuals in CMH’s eight-county service area who are pursuing careers in health care.

“Thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, players and the staff at Silo Ridge who made the event a huge success,” said Tara Akins, CMH director of community relations and development. “It was a fun day of golf to support future medical professionals in our communities.”

In the Championship Flight, Mainline Fire Protection team members Tyler Johnsen, Nate Angus, Matt Murray, and Josh Ford secured first place with a score of 51. The Nail Lounge & Tanning team finished second with a score of 52. Bank of Missouri took third place with a score of 54. Giana Andrews State Farm Insurance came fourth with a score of 58.

Amber Neal's team won the A Flight with a score of 61. Justin Bryant's CMH team also scored 61 but placed second based on tie-breaking criteria. SGC Foodservice achieved third place with a score of 62, followed by CMH Auxiliary also scoring 62.

In B Flight competition, Johnson Controls emerged as winners among teams that all shot a score of 66. Mark Bult Sr., M.D.’s team finished second while JE Dunn Construction Co. took third place. James Martino’s team came fourth.

Snyder Construction Group claimed first place in C Flight with a score of 69. Mid-Missouri Bank finished second while Bolivar Family Care Center was third; OakStar Bank completed the top four positions.

Individual awards were given for various achievements: Nate Angus won the Long Drive for ages under 44; Ted Vick won for ages between 45-60; Jeff Johnsen received two awards for Long Drive (ages over 61) and Closest to Pin Hole 11; Janelle Haik earned Women’s Long Drive; Dr. Jeff Dorman was closest to Pin Hole 2; Dr. Paul Gonzalez was closest on Hole 5; Steve Neal on Hole 17.

A prize drawing added excitement this year: Julie Edmondson won the grand prize—a T-Boss Side by Side UTV—while other winners included Lucas Hale (golf package), Connie Duryee (dinner package), Brianna Stoops (lodging package), Justin Bryant (golf package), and Stephanie Martin (firearm).

Next year’s tournament will again be held at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
