Senator Schmitt recently appeared on Fox Business' show, Varney & Company, where he discussed President Trump's influence on global affairs. During his appearance, he conveyed support for President Trump's Golden Dome Proposal. Schmitt stated, "I think it’s a great idea, and I think it’s also representative of this shift we’re seeing in the American foreign policy that I’m glad to see, which is a shift to American realism." He emphasized the necessity to focus on national interests, such as competition with China, and suggested that European allies should increase their defense efforts.
Addressing the peace prospects between Russia and Ukraine, Schmitt remarked, “This is the Peace President. You didn’t see wars happening when President Trump was President the first time.” He highlighted Trump's potential role in brokering peace and called for European countries to enhance their defense responsibilities.
Schmitt also touched on U.S. military actions against the Houthis. He said, “Finally, we’ve got a President that’s sticking up for America’s interests and that’s an important interest of the United States to make sure we have free navigation.”
Regarding Iran, Schmitt voiced concern over Iran potentially acquiring nuclear weapons. He commented, “I don’t think it’s acceptable that Iran would ever have a nuclear weapon," citing serious destabilization risks in the region.
