Congressman Eric Burlison (R-MO-07) recently introduced a series of amendments to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs (SFOPs) appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2025. These bills are currently being considered on the House floor. Rep. Burlison also collaborated with colleagues to cosponsor amendments to the Department of Defense (DOD) appropriation bill.

“Under President Biden, millions of illegal immigrants have invaded our country due to his reckless open-border policies. My amendments for DHS aim to combat these disastrous policies by restricting funds for programs that undermine our immigration laws. I am taking a stand to preserve our nation's security and sovereignty,” said Rep. Burlison.

“In defense of our nation, DOD amendments I cosponsored ensure our military remains focused on lethality instead of pursuing a far-left radical agenda by banning the use of funds for diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

“On the international front, my SFOPs amendments prohibit funding for USAID to countries where Christians are persecuted, block funding for the Office of the Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice, and halt funds for the World Economic Forum.”

“These amendments are critical to ensuring our resources are used to protect American citizens. They prioritize American interests and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent appropriately,” he added.

The Department of Homeland Security appropriation bill amendments introduced by Rep. Burlison include:

- An amendment prohibiting funds from being used to issue employment authorization documents to illegal aliens.

- An amendment restricting funds from being used to issue employment authorization documents to aliens paroled into the United States under the illegal Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans parole program.

- An amendment prohibiting funds from being used to implement the illegal Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan parole program or any successor program.

- An amendment prohibiting funds from being used to process applications for the Central American Minors Program or any successor program.

- An amendment prohibiting funds from being used to create or implement illegal categorical parole programs.

Rep. Burlison partnered with Rep. Biggs (R-AZ-05) on additional DHS-related amendments which include:

- Prohibiting funds from being used to process initial or renewal applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or issuing employment authorization documents related to DACA applications.

- Prohibiting funds for the salary and expenses of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

- Prohibiting funds from administering citizenship tests in any language other than English.

- Prohibiting DHS grants aimed at providing benefits to illegal aliens.

The Department of Defense appropriation bill amendments cosponsored by Rep. Burlison include:

- Prohibiting funds for celebrating or participating in Pride Month.

- Requiring DOD release and declassification of all documents related to unidentified anomalous phenomena.

- Prohibiting funding for bioweapons and gain-of-function research.

- An amendment prohibiting USAID funding in countries where Christians are persecuted.

- An amendment prohibiting funding for the Office of the Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice within the Department of State.

- An amendment prohibiting funding for the World Economic Forum.

Additionally, Rep. Burlison cosponsored further SFOPs-related amendments which include:

- Prohibiting funding for the Presidential Envoy for Climate.
