On May 17, 2024, Congressman Eric Burlison (R-MO-07) led a letter to Shalanda D. Young, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, requesting information on Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs throughout the federal government.

Congressman Burlison issued a statement regarding his letter:

"The Biden Administration has made clear that one of its main priorities is to embed DEI ideology into every facet of American society and the federal government. DEI programs are an affront to everything we believe in as Americans. Instead of uniting us they divide us and pit American against American.

We need to know exactly how much of the American people’s hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being wasted on DEI programs so that we can defund them along with other wasteful and divisive spending."

Congressman Burlison was joined by Representatives Ralph Norman (R-SC-05), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-02), John Rose (R-TN-06), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND-At-Large), Andy Ogles (R-TN-05), Michael Cloud (R-TX-27), Jeff Duncan (R-SC-03), Chip Roy (R-TX-21), and Harriet Hageman (R-WY At-Large).
