The City of Springfield has announced an upcoming event to inform the public about the Galloway Street Widening Project. According to the City, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the project and what to expect as construction is anticipated to begin this summer.

The public is encouraged to participate in the informational open house at All Saints Anglican Church, located at 2751 E. Galloway Street. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. City staff will provide a brief presentation at 5:30 p.m., and attendees can engage with officials, ask questions, and learn more about the project.

The Galloway Street Widening Project aims to enhance safety for traffic and pedestrians by widening Galloway Street to three lanes between Luster and Lone Pine avenues. The project includes the addition of a new center turn lane, traffic calming roundabout intersections, and upgraded stormwater infrastructure. Furthermore, improvements will facilitate better connectivity to Sequiota Park, the Galloway Greenway Trail, and local businesses.

City surveys indicated that the Galloway Street Widening Project was a high priority, leading to its inclusion in funding initiatives. The construction of the project will be supported by the City’s ¼-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax and $1.5 million from the Governor’s Transportation Cost Share Program.

For those interested in learning more or receiving project updates, information can be found on the project webpage at springfieldmo.gov/galloway.
