Chantel Carter, a registered nurse with Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) Hospice, has been recognized with the DAISY Platinum Award after receiving 11 nominations for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Carter's nominations highlighted her compassion, professionalism, and dedication to both patients and their families. She has been described as gentle, kind, and honest, taking time to explain care procedures and offering comfort during challenging times. Families have referred to her as “a gift” and “a true and brilliant diamond,” acknowledging the understanding and support she provides.

Her actions include staying with patients until the end of life, praying with families, and ensuring their needs are met. Many noted that Carter’s presence brought reassurance and peace, often making her feel like part of their family.

The DAISY Award program recognizes nurses who show exceptional skill, compassion, and commitment to patient care. “Chantel is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for and every leader is proud to support,” said Sarah Hanak, CMH system chief nursing officer. “I’ve read every one of her nominations, and what shines through is not just her clinical excellence, but the deep humanity she brings to every moment. Chantel is a light in our profession, and her receipt of the Platinum DAISY Award demonstrates her ability to continue touching lives in ways that words can barely capture.”

The DAISY Platinum Award is part of an international initiative celebrating extraordinary nurses. It honors those who have received ten or more DAISY Award nominations for consistent excellence and significant impact on patients and families. CMH began its DAISY Awards program in January 2019 and introduced the Platinum level in May 2025.
