Michael Creek holds the record with an average of 0.69 from his time between 2018 and 2021. In the previous season, Lowry ranked fifth nationally with a goals-against average of .674, conceding only nine goals over more than 1,200 minutes played.
Creighton leads the all-time series against Missouri State with a record of 24 wins, ten losses, and four draws; however, Missouri State won their most recent meeting last season by a scoreline of 1-0.
Under head coach Michael Seabolt, Missouri State has recorded three consecutive seasons with at least twelve wins each year. Since the start of the 2019 season, Missouri State has achieved an overall Division I record of 86 wins, eighteen losses, and twelve draws (.793 winning percentage), which is best among Division I teams during that span. Their conference record stands at forty-seven wins, four losses and four draws (.891), while their home performance is fourth-best nationally at forty-eight wins, eight losses and six draws (.823). In addition, they had the fifteenth-best win percentage nationally in 2024 at .722.
Missouri State has made six straight NCAA tournament appearances since 2019—a feat matched only by Clemson, Georgetown, Indiana, Marshall, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh among Division I programs nationwide during that period.
The Bears were included in both initial United Soccer Coaches Polls this year and have appeared in at least one poll for eight consecutive seasons.
This year marks Missouri State's first season competing in the American Conference after thirty-four years as part of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). During their time in MVC since 1997 they won twelve regular-season championships and four conference tournament titles along with nine NCAA Tournament berths.
Missouri State was projected to finish fifth in its new conference according to preseason polling but received one first-place vote; only two points separate them from second place among tightly grouped contenders. Alex Matthews was named preseason all-league selection for MSU and appears on this year's Hermann Trophy Watch List—an honor given annually to college soccer’s top player nationwide.
