Missouri State University's women's soccer team secured a 1-1 draw against Delaware on Sunday at Allison South Stadium, extending its unbeaten streak in conference play to 24 matches. The Bears, now with a record of 5-5-3 overall and 2-0-2 in Conference USA, managed to level the score late in the match after trailing for most of the game.
Delaware opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Adiat Olaogun-Dickson finished off an assist from Maggie Groh. Missouri State created several chances during the first half but entered halftime down by one goal.
After halftime, Missouri State increased its offensive pressure and generated more opportunities. The equalizer came in the 83rd minute as Brooke Cattoor scored with a header from a cross by Julia Kristensen, which deflected off the right post before going into the net.
Missouri State outshot Delaware 11-6 overall and held a 7-0 shot advantage in the second half. The Bears also led in corner kicks, earning seven compared to Delaware's three. Goalkeeper Ella Becker made two saves, while Missouri State's defense prevented any further goals after Delaware's early lead.
"Definitely a battle between two quality teams that are both new to CUSA," head coach Kirk Nelson said. "The team fought until the end to equalize and get a solid point at home. Appreciate the strong fan support and look forward to our Senior day next Sunday!"
The Bears will continue their four-match homestand on Saturday, October 12, hosting Western Kentucky for Senior Day at 1 p.m., followed by matches against Louisiana Tech on October 16 and Sam Houston on October 19 at Allison South Stadium. Admission is free for all fans attending home games.
