Missouri State University senior Fumiya Shiraishi has been named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Monday. This marks his third time receiving the award and his second consecutive week earning the honor. The recognition follows his performance in which he scored two goals during Missouri State’s 4-0 victory over Temple in their American Conference opener on September 12.

Shiraishi is now the first player in Missouri State Bears history to win offensive weekly conference honors three times within a single season. So far this year, he has either scored or assisted on nine out of twelve goals for the Bears. Nationally, Shiraishi leads NCAA Division I with averages of 1.60 goals per game and 3.60 points per game.

Junior Alex Matthews received an Honorable Mention for his defensive contributions, helping lead the team from the backline.

The Missouri State Bears are scheduled to play next against No. 24 Saint Louis on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m.
