Missouri State’s Fumiya Shiraishi named conference offensive player of week after Penn State win

Missouri State University senior Fumiya Shiraishi has been named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Monday. This is the second time Shiraishi has received this recognition. The award follows his performance in Missouri State's 3-1 victory over Penn State on September 1, where he scored two goals.

Shiraishi has played a key role for the Bears this season, having scored or assisted on seven out of eight goals by the team so far. He currently leads NCAA Division I in goals per game with an average of 1.50.

Senior defender Harry Jolley received an Honorable Mention for his defensive work, having controlled both games during the week and leading the team from the back.

The Bears are scheduled to play their next match at home against Temple in their American Conference opener at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Friday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. Admission to all home games is free throughout the season.
