The Missouri State men's soccer team lost to Kansas City with a final score of 2-1 on Monday evening. The match, played in Kansas City, saw the Bears ranked No. 24 facing the No. 18 Roos.

Missouri State's Ollie Bate scored early in the eighth minute after an assist from Fumiya Shiraishi, who is recognized as the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week. However, Kansas City responded quickly. Jeremy Francou equalized for the Roos in the 11th minute and Bryson Gosch gave them a lead just four minutes later.

During the first half, Missouri State recorded seven shots compared to five from Kansas City, with both teams managing two shots on goal before halftime. Despite this offensive push by Missouri State, Kansas City maintained their lead going into the break.

In the second half, Missouri State continued to create chances but was unable to break through Kansas City's defense. Marc Popow, goalkeeper for Kansas City, made four key saves during the match.

Missouri State outshot their opponent 15-5 and had more shots on goal (5-2). The Roos committed 15 fouls and received two yellow cards during play; Missouri State had nine fouls.

The Bears will return home to face Tampa at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7:00 p.m. Admission for all home games remains free throughout the season.
