Missouri State University's women's soccer team has been projected to finish third in the 2025 Conference USA Preseason Coaches' Poll, according to an announcement from the league on Thursday. The poll, which included votes from all 12 head coaches in the conference, awarded Missouri State one first-place vote and a total of 100 points.
Liberty University led the poll with nine first-place votes and 119 points. Florida International University (FIU) followed in second place with two first-place votes and 109 points. New Mexico State (94 points) and Middle Tennessee (82 points) completed the top five.
This season marks Missouri State's debut in Conference USA after a successful 2024 campaign. Last year, the Bears won their fourth Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title by defeating Drake 4-0. They remained unbeaten in conference play with a record of 9-0-1, secured both regular season and tournament championships, and made a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
The team also received several individual awards at the end of last season. Julia Kristensen was named Player of the Year, Jane Hansen earned Freshman of the Year honors, and the coaching staff was recognized as MVC Coaching Staff of the Year.
Although no Missouri State players were selected for this year's CUSA preseason all-conference team, head coach Kirk Nelson's squad returns 16 players from last season's roster. This includes five starters and several athletes who have previously received all-conference recognition.
