Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, shared a series of posts on July 25, 2025, detailing his positions and recent actions regarding Medicaid spending and federal budget negotiations.
In one post, Burlison addressed the issue of rising Medicaid costs: "Eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. Medicaid spending has increased by over 51% in just five years. When the Biden administration eliminated work requirements the program exploded! We brought them back!" (July 25, 2025).
He also highlighted efforts by the House Freedom Caucus to reduce federal expenditures: ".@freedomcaucus had several late nights throughout the process to secure $1.5+ trillion in spending reductions. Billions more than the original proposals!" (July 25, 2025).
Another post outlined measures that did not advance due to Senate procedures: "What the Senate parliamentarian killed. Eliminating a loophole allowing Medicaid for aliens Barring subsidies for plans that cover abortions Banning Medicaid from covering sex change surgeries" (July 25, 2025).
Burlison began serving in Congress after succeeding Billy Long in Missouri's 7th District in January 2023 and previously held seats in both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly between 2009 and 2023. Born in Springfield in 1976 and currently residing in Ozark, Burlison is an alumnus of Missouri State University.
