Senator Eric Schmitt has issued a statement reflecting on his second year representing Missouri in the United States Senate. He expressed pride in his accomplishments over the past year, highlighting both legislative successes and efforts to engage with constituents across the state. "It has been an honor to serve the people of Missouri in the United States Senate for the past two years," said Senator Schmitt. "I’m proud of everything we were able to accomplish this year, from introducing and passing critical bills to traveling the state to hear from Missourians."

During 2024, Senator Schmitt introduced several pieces of legislation addressing various issues. Among them was the Taiwan and America Space Assistance Act aimed at enhancing cooperation with Taiwan in space efforts, and the Commercial Standards Paramount to Accelerating Cosmic Exploration (SPACE) Leadership Act, which extends a learning period for commercial space industry development.

The Think Differently Database Act directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to create a resource website for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Another significant bill is the Bipartisan ENABLE Act, allowing people with disabilities and their families to save through tax-free accounts while maintaining eligibility for federal programs like Medicaid.

Additionally, Schmitt introduced legislation such as The Table Rock Lake Property Protection Act and The Protecting Higher Education from the Chinese Communist Party Act. The latter aims to prevent members of China's Communist Party from obtaining student visas for American universities.

Schmitt also focused on defense-related initiatives through acts like The National Geospatial Innovation Hub Advancement Act, aiming at developing a skilled workforce in geospatial technologies. His work extended into securing provisions within national defense authorization measures that impact Missouri's military installations.

In terms of committee involvement, Schmitt participated actively in hearings concerning national security threats posed by global adversaries like China. He sought answers regarding cybersecurity concerns linked to Chinese technology companies and advocated for stronger U.S. border defenses.

Schmitt's constituent services team closed over 1,800 cases this year, saving Missourians more than $3 million. Additionally, he engaged in oversight activities related to foreign investments near military bases and addressed concerns about free speech suppression by major tech companies ahead of elections.

Looking forward, Senator Schmitt anticipates further developments under President-Elect Trump’s administration as Republicans prepare to take control in Washington next year: "But the job is far from over – with President-Elect Trump and Republicans set to take control of Washington next year... I will continue to be a voice for all Missourians here in Washington," he stated.
