The City of Springfield is conducting a Community Development Needs Survey until August 31. The survey targets city residents, neighborhood groups, businesses, developers, and public and private sector service providers to assess needs in affordable housing, economic development, public services, public and private improvements and infrastructure, and public facilities.

The results will contribute to the City's 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and assist in programming funding across these areas. Paper copies of the survey can be requested by calling 417-864-1308.

Annually, the City receives federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) based on its population, demographics, and available funding. With current funding levels, Springfield anticipates receiving approximately $1.5 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and around $1 million in HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds each year for the next five years. These funds are primarily intended to benefit low to moderate-income households.
