WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Eric Schmitt expressed his strong views on the impeachment proceedings of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Senator Schmitt criticized the Senate Democrats for their actions in a statement released today. He emphasized the importance of a full impeachment trial and voiced his concerns about the handling of the situation.

"Today, Senator Schumer and Senate Democrats just bulldozed hundreds of years of precedent to shelter one of the worst cabinet members in history, Secretary Mayorkas," stated Senator Schmitt. He further added, "Mayorkas is responsible for the worst crisis at the Southern Border in American history, full stop."

Senator Schmitt also expressed his disappointment in the Senate Democrats' approach, mentioning that they "diminished the institution of the Senate today and set ablaze the Constitution and long-standing precedent." He concluded by calling out President Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, saying, "When Joe Biden and the Democrat Party talk about threats to democracy, they need to take a good long look in the mirror."

The statement from Senator Eric Schmitt highlights the growing tensions surrounding the impeachment proceedings of Secretary Mayorkas and sheds light on the differing perspectives within the Senate on this matter.
