Cost of college went up for all students at Missouri State University-Springfield

In-state tuition and fees rose 1 percent for 2018-19 at Missouri State University-Springfield, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Missouri residents paid $7,376 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $70 more than the $7,306 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 107.8 percent more than residents this year, or $15,326. Their price tag grew 3.9 percent from $14,746 in 2017-18.

About 86 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Missouri residents. About 13 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,345 students received grants or scholarships totaling $12.7 million and 1,901 students took out student loans totaling more than $13 million.

Including all undergraduates (23,697), 10,835 students used grants or scholarships totaling $61.2 million, and 9,494 students took out $62 million in federal student loans.
