A fire broke out at the Pebblecreek Apartment complex in Springfield on Sunday night, sending three people to local hospitals and displacing about 30 residents. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on March 1, when the Springfield Fire Department responded to reports of a blaze in the 2800 block of South Fort Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the south portion of Building 1200 heavily involved in flames. Nearly 40 firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the fire. Three individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment. No injuries were reported among emergency personnel.
The building, which houses 24 apartments, sustained significant damage as a result of the fire. Approximately 30 occupants have been displaced and are receiving assistance from both the property management company and the Red Cross.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation,” according to officials.
