Cyndi Zerbey, a licensed practical nurse at Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Medical Surgical Unit, has been honored with the DAISY Platinum Award after receiving 10 nominations for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The recognition comes from patients and families who have highlighted her kindness, compassion, and consistent quality of care.
Zerbey has often been described as encouraging and positive, supporting patients through recovery and providing comfort during challenging times, including end-of-life care. Her efforts extend beyond her patients to their families as well, helping them feel valued and supported.
The DAISY Award program recognizes nurses who demonstrate exceptional skill and commitment to patient care. "To be nominated 10 times is a remarkable achievement," said Sarah Hanak, CMH system chief nursing officer. "It speaks to Cyndi’s dedication, professionalism and the deep trust she has earned from patients, families and fellow staff."
The DAISY Platinum Award is part of an international program celebrating extraordinary nurses. This particular honor goes to those who have received 10 or more nominations for the DAISY Award, highlighting their consistent impact on patient care.
Citizens Memorial Hospital began presenting DAISY Awards in January 2019. The hospital introduced the Platinum level in May 2025 to recognize nurses demonstrating this high degree of dedication.
