Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district, posted a series of tweets on August 6, 2025, addressing the Jeffrey Epstein case and congressional oversight responsibilities.

In his first tweet of the day, Burlison questioned the legal handling of Jeffrey Epstein’s prosecution in 2008, writing: “Any American would have been locked up for life given the evidence against Epstein. So why did Alex Acosta let him off the hook in 2008?” (August 6, 2025).

Later that evening, he emphasized Congress’s authority regarding ongoing investigations into the Epstein case: “Congress not only has a right but also an obligation to hold in contempt those who defy @GOPoversight subpoenas regarding the Epstein case.” (August 6, 2025).

In a third post that night, Burlison wrote: “Lock in, Patriot.” (August 6, 2025).

Eric Burlison has served as a member of the U.S. Congress since replacing Billy Long in Missouri’s 7th district in 2023. Before his current role, he was part of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 and served in the Missouri Senate from 2019 to 2023. He was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and currently resides in Ozark. Burlison holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Missouri State University.
