Congressman Eric Burlison of Missouri’s 7th district has introduced the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act of 2025 as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The proposal aims to improve public access to government records concerning UAPs.

“For too long, Americans have been left in the dark about UAP,” said Rep. Burlison. “This amendment ensures these records are preserved, reviewed, and responsibly released to the public. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and the American people deserve the truth.”

If approved, Burlison’s amendment would prohibit altering or destroying UAP-related documents and would create a dedicated UAP Records Collection at the National Archives. It also calls for an independent board to oversee which records can be declassified and mandates that most records be disclosed within 25 years unless there are national security concerns identified by the President. Additionally, it provides for continued congressional oversight.

“This effort is about transparency and trust,” Burlison concluded. “Without jeopardizing legitimate national-security interests, our government should be as forthcoming as possible with the American people about what it knows about UAP.”

Eric Burlison has served in Congress representing Missouri’s 7th District since 2023, after replacing Billy Long. He previously held seats in both chambers of Missouri’s legislature from 2009 through early 2023. Burlison was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and currently lives in Ozark.
