Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, has recently shared his perspectives on fiscal policy and immigration through a series of tweets. Known for his previous service in the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate, Burlison continues to voice strong opinions on national issues.

On June 6, 2025, Burlison tweeted about the challenges of balancing the federal budget. He stated that “Balancing the budget shouldn’t take a miracle, but $1.5T in cuts is like moving mountains.” He likened the situation to “David vs. Goliath,” expressing frustration with what he describes as “the swamp” protecting spending at all costs.

Later that day, Burlison criticized Democratic policies regarding welfare programs for undocumented immigrants. He claimed that “Democrats believe that illegals should be entitled to welfare programs… ON YOUR DIME.” This tweet reflects his disapproval of what he perceives as their vision for America.

In another tweet on June 6, Burlison used a baseball metaphor to describe a legislative bill related to national debt reduction. He remarked: “The best way I describe this bill is: we’re 37 (trillion in debt) runs down, it’s the bottom of the ninth inning, and we just bunted to get on first base.” The congressman questioned whether taking such small steps is sufficient given the magnitude of the national debt issue.

Eric Burlison was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and currently resides in Ozark. A graduate of Missouri State University with both undergraduate and graduate degrees earned by 2002, he succeeded Billy Long as U.S Congress member from Missouri’s 7th District.
