Missouri State University’s STUNT team has been chosen to participate in the 2026 College STUNT National Championships, according to an announcement made on April 8. The team is currently ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division I STUNT, as released by Stunt the Sport.
The selection places Missouri State among a field of top teams set to compete at Lipscomb University in Nashville from April 23–26. Other Division I qualifiers include Cal Baptist, Kentucky, Cal Poly, and Mercyhurst. Details about seedings and match schedules for the national tournament will be announced later.
Before heading to nationals, Missouri State will conclude its regular season at the Mid America West Conference Tournament in Martin, Tennessee. The Bears have received a first-round bye and are scheduled to play their opening game against either UT Martin or Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with additional games later that day and on Sunday.
Head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle said, “We are very excited to have qualified for the National Tournament. When we started this year, it was never a goal but an expectation. We knew we were talented enough and motivated enough, so it is great to see the hard work pay off. We are looking forward to this weekend at our conference tournament. We will have a couple of tough games, but the team is mentally and physically ready to have a good weekend.” Wingbermuehle was named as Missouri State’s inaugural head coach in February 2024 and led the program through its first season last year.
In their debut season in 2025, Missouri State finished with a record of nine wins and eighteen losses overall while posting three wins against five losses within conference play. The Bears achieved their first-ever win over Drury during that initial campaign under Wingbermuehle’s leadership.
The upcoming national championship marks another milestone for both Missouri State’s program and women’s collegiate athletics more broadly; earlier this year NCAA membership voted officially approving STUNT as an NCAA championship sport beginning with its first official championship event projected for spring 2027.
