Missouri State University’s Acrobatics and Tumbling team achieved a milestone on Friday night by defeating No. 15 ranked La Salle and setting a new program record with a score of 246.830 at Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Missouri.
The Bears started the meet with consistent performances in the compulsory event, highlighted by a 9.450 in the pyramid heat, resulting in an early lead over La Salle. In the acro event, Missouri State furthered its advantage with a 9.400 in the seven-element heat and concluded with a total of 27.05.
A key moment came during the pyramid event where Missouri State delivered three strong heats, including a near-perfect score of 9.950 in the open heat—the highest single-heat score of the meet. This routine featured athletes Anna Warring, Kylynn Hanson, Sawyer Lee, Sofia Calero, Destiny McDonald, Abbie Henderlight, Briana Milton and Isabella Bezerra. The Bears finished this segment with a total of 29.00.
In toss and tumbling events, Missouri State maintained its momentum by scoring well across multiple heats, including notable marks of 9.250 in both aerial and open passes within tumbling for an event total of 49.650.
The team closed out their performance with an 82.030 in the team event to secure victory and set the new program high score.
With this win against La Salle, Missouri State continues to show significant progress during only its second season as an acrobatics and tumbling program at the collegiate level.
The Bears will now travel for upcoming meets against Texas Lutheran on March 5, Azusa Pacific on March 19 and Augustana on April 4.
