The Missouri Job Center will reopen its Springfield location for full operations starting Monday, March 9. Visitors are instructed to use a temporary entrance at 1661 N. Boonville Avenue while repairs continue.
Ericka Schmeeckle, Assistant Director of Economic Vitality and Workforce Development, explained the adjustments made after recent water damage. “The public-facing Resource Area, which was impacted the most by water damage, has been temporarily relocated within the building to provide customers with a full range of services including job searches, enrollment in training programs, and filing for unemployment benefits,” Schmeeckle said. “Customers can also meet with case managers for career guidance and assessments,” she added.
Due to changes in office space usage during restoration work, all workshops scheduled for March have been canceled but are expected to resume in April.
Springfield serves as the county seat of Greene County in southwestern Missouri and operates under a council-manager form of government with a nine-member City Council responsible for policy decisions (official website).
