Rep. Eric Burlison, who represents Missouri’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on August 18, 2025, to voice concerns about government accountability and criticize Democratic positions on several policy issues.

In a post published at 15:04 UTC, Burlison stated, “As someone who truly believes this government belongs to the people – that the people own the government, not the other way around – it’s disturbing to see how powerful the intelligence community has become.”

Later that day at 15:53 UTC, he posted a list of policy areas where he claims Democrats have opposed Republican initiatives: Every time:

Secure peace deals → Democrats: NO
Cleaner, safer cities → Democrats: NO
Election integrity → Democrats: NO
Largest tax cut ever → Democrats: NO
Deport criminal illegals → Democrats: NO
Ban toxic food dyes → Democrats: NO

Issue after issue.

At 20:18 UTC on the same day, Burlison compared regulatory approaches under Presidents Biden and Trump. He wrote, What a difference a year makes!

Under Biden, overregulation crushed farmers and small businesses. President Trump is cutting the red tape and unleashing America’s strength once again.

We’re winning like never before and we’re just getting started.

Burlison has represented Missouri’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Billy Long. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in both chambers of Missouri’s state legislature—first in the House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 and then in the Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Springfield in 1976 and currently residing in Ozark, Burlison holds two degrees from Missouri State University (Fact sources: [1](#), [2](#), [3](#), [4](#)).
