CreAsian restaurant continues annual fundraiser for Springfield police and fire departments

CreAsian restaurant, located at the northwest corner of Chestnut and Campbell in Springfield, will donate half of its gross sales on Tuesday, September 19 to support the Springfield Police Foundation and the Springfield Fire Department’s fire education and prevention programs. This marks the sixth year that CreAsian has held this fundraiser.

In 2016, the event raised $1,600 for both the police foundation and fire department initiatives. Since starting the annual effort in 2012, CreAsian has contributed nearly $8,000 to these local departments.

CreAsian co-owner Kiki Hu explained that her husband Johnny Tang initiated the fundraiser as a way to give back. “We are so blessed and he felt that since he came here 16 years ago, he had nothing. Now he has a restaurant and a family,” she said. “It’s now time to contribute back to society.”

For further information about the fundraiser or how proceeds will be used, contact Cora Scott, Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement.
