Community invited to brainstorm events for Jefferson Avenue Footbridge reopening

The Commercial Club of Springfield is inviting community members to take part in a brainstorming session for future events related to the reopening of the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge. The meeting, titled “Dream Big, Dream Bold,” aims to gather ideas for celebrations planned around the bridge’s tentative reopening in April 2026.

This second BridgeBash brainstorming meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Historic Firehouse 2, located at 101 E. Commercial St. Organizers encourage participants to bring creative ideas as they discuss ways to honor and promote the historic footbridge.

According to the release, “Put on your creative thinking cap and have some fun as we craft a future for our treasured Jefferson Avenue Footbridge at the second BridgeBash brainstorming meeting, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 at Historic Firehouse 2, 101 E. Commercial St.”

The Jefferson Avenue Footbridge has been an important landmark in Springfield, and its reopening is expected to draw significant community interest.
