Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation announced on March 19 that registration is open for the annual Heroes for Hospice Race, which will take place on Saturday, May 2. The event is presented by Craig Lehman-Shelter Insurance and encourages community participation in support of hospice care.

The race offers several options including a 5K, a 10K, and a 1.5-mile Fun Run. It will begin at 8 a.m., starting and ending in front of the CMH Dermatology Clinic at 1125 N. Butterfield Road in Bolivar. This year’s race features a wizard theme, with participants encouraged to dress as their favorite wizard characters.

The course includes a scenic loop around Dunnegan Memorial Park and will be electronically timed to ensure accuracy. Medals will be awarded to overall male and female winners as well as first-place finishers in each age division. Special recognition will also go to the oldest and youngest runners, along with a spirit award for best theme-dressed participant.

Registration fees range from $25 to $40 per person and include a T-shirt. Online registration is available until April 24 at https://cmhbolivar.info/5k10krace, while on-site registration remains open until 7:30 a.m. on race day. The event welcomes all ages and activity levels; walkers, strollers, and pets are permitted. A virtual participation option is also offered for $25 so supporters can run or walk at any location while still receiving an event T-shirt.

According to organizers, proceeds from the race help ensure that terminally ill patients and their families receive comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and bereavement care through CMH Hospice services.
