Citizens Memorial Hospital announced on March 23 that it is opening new spaces in its patient tower in scheduled phases throughout March and April. Several departments will begin seeing patients in new locations, and some entrances and registration areas will change during this transition.
The hospital said the former main entrance will now be called the West Entrance, while a newly constructed entrance at the patient tower will become the Main Entrance. The Cafeteria, DJBean Coffee Bar, and Gift Garden gift shop opened in their new locations within the patient tower on March 23.
According to hospital officials, Main Entrance doors are temporarily closed through March 30 as final work is completed. During this period, staff and visitors can use an alternate door next to the Main Entrance or interior hallways to access amenities like the cafeteria. Starting March 30, patient registration desks and an information desk will open in the new tower. An information desk will also remain available at the West Entrance lobby.
Patients registering for surgery or radiology appointments—including MRI scans and Saturday cath lab procedures—should use the Main Entrance from March 30 onward. They will check in at registration desks inside the new tower before being directed to waiting rooms within Radiology. Lab services patients should continue using the West Entrance for registration at Laboratory Department; volunteers are available to assist with directions if needed.
The timeline includes additional moves: emergency care patients should begin using a newly designated Emergency Department entrance adjacent to Main Entrance starting April 15; The Birth Place relocates to third floor on April 19; Intensive Care Unit moves on April 25; Medical Surgical Unit follows on April 26. Infusion Center patients move from Douglas Medical Center beginning March 31 with services starting April 1, continuing through West Entrance until May when they shift to Community Room entrance as renovations proceed into fall.
Hospital volunteers are stationed at both entrances to help with questions or directions, supported by updated maps and signage throughout facilities. Further updates are available via announcements on citizensmemorial.com or CMH social media channels.
