When many people hear the term “bioengineering,” they may not understand exactly what that entails. Dr. Hu Yang, the Doshi Endowed Department Chair of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Missouri S&T, hopes to help with this and explain the importance and future implications of this discipline.

Missouri S&T will celebrate its engineering education heritage during National Engineers Week 2023, which runs from Feb. 19-25. Events include a talk by one of S&T’s three alumni to become a NASA astronaut, presentations on artificial intelligence and bioengineering, and outreach by student design team members at the Saint Louis Science Center.

Dr. Mark Robert Towler has been named the Linda and Bipin Doshi Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Missouri S&T. He began his duties on Jan. 1.

Dr. Fateme Rezaei has been named the Linda and Bipin Doshi Associate Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Missouri S&T. She began her new role on Sept. 1.
